Eleven girls from a school in the city handed the national team a Teddy Bear, and the team will now carry the fuzzy good luck charm to all their competitions.
"We were touched by the teddy bear that they gave us," said Brazil international Chuca.
"It's very nice to have this contact with the fans, especially with girls that are already playing basketball.
“We are very happy that we have great support and that will help us as we attempt to qualify for the Olympics."
Brazil are taking part in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Women in June.
The event will be staged in Madrid, Spain, and five places for the Beijing Games will be up for grabs
