Reading took advantage of Barnes HE’s 3-1 loss at Harleston Magpies by beating Horsham 5-0 at home, in turn securing them the Women’s Conference East title. At the bottom, Maidstone’s 1-0 loss at home means that the best they can now aim for is a place in the relegation play-off as they are 11 points adrift of safety with three games to play.
Durham University applied the heat to Loughborough Students in what is already a keenly contested rivalry, the palatinates secured a 1-0 home victory which brings them within a point of Loughborough in the league, with the title likely to go to the wire. Sunderland and Whitley Bay and Tynemouth’s local derby ended in a 4-0 victory for the Wearsiders which moved them four points clear of their opponents in eighth. Women’s Conference West leaders University of Birmingham and Aldridge’s game was not played on Sunday so Sutton Coldfield were able to move within four points of the top thanks to a 2-1 home win over Bournemouth. At the bottom, Rover Oxford fell to one goal in their defeat at Swansea which keeps them one point adrift of safety.
