Fifth position at the Cross Country World Cup run off in Fort William this weekend.
7th position for the Slovenian athlete who will be at the World Championship, confirming her good physical condition.
In the location of Fort William, the 5th round of the Cross Country World Cup has run off.
At the starting line GIANT Italia Team was present with the Slovenian Elite Woman Blaza Klemencic.
The Women competition has developed on a 39 km long track – 5 laps.
The athlete of the GIANT Italia Team started stronger than ever and at the end of the first lap, she was at 4th following the Canadian Premont and the bikers of the Luna Womens MTB Team Katerina Nash and Georgia Gould.
During the 4th lap, Blaza Klemencic was re-jointed by a group composed by Spitz, Leboucher, Byberg and Liu who have preceded the Slovenian athlete at the finish line. The biker of GIANT Italia Team is arrived at 7th position.
This is the best result got in the Cross Country World Cup by the athlete from Ljubljana who has analyzed her performance as follow: “I pushed at the beginning in order to increase my advantage because I knew how my opponents can perform. I finished Fort William’s competition at the 7th position and this is a great result for me. I’m defining my condition in Vermiglio in order to compete at the best at the World Championships”.
At the starting line, there weren’t the other bikers of GIANT Italia Team and the Technical Manager Gianfranco Bechis explains the reason about this decision : “Fort William is a long and stressing trip. Even if Fort William has one of the best track of the World Cup, we prefer to focus our attention on the World Championships, where Yader Zoli and Ivan Alvarez Gutierrez could get a good result”.
