BIRMINGHAM - The Birmingham Blitz Derby Dames rollergirls will be heading to the old country (Europe) for the roller derby bout rematch against the Stuttgart Valley Rollergirlz (SVRG) which is optimistically entitled: ‘New Year’s Massacre’ on 31st January 2009.
SVRG came to England for the UK’s first ever pan-European roller derby bout on 22nd November 2008 for ‘Band of Brawlers’ which took place at Cocks Moors Woods Leisure Centre, Kings Heath with the Blitz Dames emerging victorious in a very closely fought game with the final score of 81-75.
The Blitz Dames’ travel team 'Brummie Bombshells' has had some unexpected issues subsequently the Dames will have only 10 taking on this challenge to SVRG's 14 on the day. Team Captain Simone Radway, 26, from Erdington says "we've been training on and off the track to condition our bodies to the challenge, we're ready to take this win."
This bout will serve as the Dames’ sixth interleague game, where they are 3 wins to 2 loss and their first ever away game.
The Dames are in the middle of their second competitive season with forthcoming fixtures in Glasgow and home games against Middlesbrough (21.03.09) and Leeds (18.04.09).
