Hundreds of the world’s top gymnasts will bounce into Birmingham later this year for the Trampoline, Tumbling and Double Mini Trampoline World Championships. The prestigious event, featuring around 650 competitors and officials from 40 countries, will be held at the National Indoor Arena from November 17 – 20.
GBR Senior Team gymnasts Amanda Parker (Trampoline), Zara McLean (Tumbling) and Alex Foster (Double Mini Trampoline) have helped launch the ticket sales and official website – www.birminghamtt2011.com at a media day alongside excited schoolchildren at Swanhusrt School in Birmingham.
Jane Allen, British Gymnastics CEO said: "British Gymnastics is delighted to be working with UK Sport and Birmingham City Council in delivering the 2011 World TRA Championships. This event will attract enormous attention from the Media as it is an Olympic qualification event and it will also give the public the rare chance to see the top athletes in the world who will compete in London. From our athlete’s point of view, the Championships will provide an opportunity to compete on home soil, to be supported by a home crowd and hopefully, be successful in their quest to qualify for London 2012."

The event will see the world's best gymnasts in these disciplines competing in one of the most prestigious competitions in the FIG calendar. The event was last held in this country over 40 years ago in London in 1967.
The World Championships encompasses 8 events (4 male/4 female) held over a three-day period as well as the World Age Group Championships (Junior competition). It is expected that around 650 gymnasts and officials from 40 countries will attend the world championships while the junior competition expects to attract around 1200 participants.
The event will also be the qualification competition for the Trampoline discipline for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
The World Championships will take place from 17 to 20 November while the World Age Group Championships will take place from 24 to 27 November
