Fans of Liz Halliday have the opportunity to own one of the dual sportswoman’s race suits, signed by the California-born racing driver and equestrian.

Halliday, who is now based in the UK, has donated one of her racing suits to be sold off at a charity auction with all proceeds going to Mencap – The leading UK charity for people with a learning disability and their families. The suit was previously worn by Liz during the 2007 Le Mans 24 Hours where she raced for Del Bello Racing in the LMP2 category and led the class before gearbox problems forced retirement in the early hours of the morning.

The auction has been organised by Surrey’s Daryl Farmer, who will raise further funds next year by tackling the arduous ‘Marathon des Sables’, a seven-day, 150 mile on-foot trip across the Sahara Desert.

“This is a really great cause and I am excited that I could help by adding to the charity auction” said Halliday, “I hope that everyone who can will come and be a part of this important fundraising night.”

The auction night will take place on 11 October, although bids can also be made through the campaign website by emailing [email protected]. For more details or to make a donation to Mencap, please visit www.dazinthedesert.co.uk.
