Bartoli and Kvitova reach AEGON International final

Marion Bartoli and Petra Kvitova will contest the AEGON International women's singles final after semi-final victories at Devonshire Park on Saturday.

Bartoli, the French sixth seed, was a 6-3, 6-1 winner over Australian Sam Stosur in windy conditions on Centre Court.

"Today was the worst conditions I've ever played in," said Stosur after her defeat, "It's one of those days where you've just got to try hard and do whatever you can to get through, because it's very hard to hit the shots you want.

"She got that first shot in more times than I could and I was on the back foot. It just wasn't easy."

Petra Kvitova progressed through to the final when Daniela Hantuchova retired with an abdominal strain whilst trailing 6-7(9), 2-4.

The Czech fifth seed took a tight first set 11-9 on the tie-break and went an early break up in the second set before the unseeded Slovakian was forced to withdraw.

The women's final will follow the completion of the men's semi-final on Centre Court and is scheduled to begin not before 2.45pm on Saturday.
