Barefoot Water Ski World Championships To Be Held Jan. 26-Feb. 1 In Otaki, New Zealand
The Barefoot Water Ski World Championships will be held Jan. 26 through Feb. 1 at Lake Inspiration and Forest Lakes in Otaki, New Zealand. For the second consecutive time, the biennial Elite Barefoot Water Ski World Championships will be held simultaneously with the biennial Junior and Senior Barefoot Water Ski World Championships. The Elite Barefoot Worlds is taking place for the 16th time, the Junior Barefoot Worlds is taking place for the eighth time, and the Senior Barefoot Worlds is taking place for the sixth time.
Athletes and teams from more than a dozen countries will compete for world team titles and world individual titles in wake slalom, tricks, jumping and overall. At the 2006 Worlds, the U.S. Elite and Senior teams each won overall team gold medals, the Junior team earned the overall silver medal, and 17 U.S. athletes earned individual medals in respective events.
