Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, January 24, 2011 – The Boys and Girls Youth Pan American Volleyball Cups will take place this year from July 15-23 at the cities of Mexicali and Tijuana of Baja California, Mexico respectively, while the hosting countries for the junior events were still to be decided. The State Auditorium in Mexicali will host the female competition while the Poly-Sport Pavillion at the Baja California High Performance Center in Tijuana will be the venue for the male event. Peru for women’s and Canada for men’s are considered as the most likely locations for the Junior Pan American Cups. Meanwhile, Puerto Rico was confirmed as hosts of the Men’s Olympic Volleyball Qualifier, an eight-team tournament scheduled from January 10-18 with participants from USA, Cuba, Canada, Mexico, Dominican Republic and hosts Puerto Rico plus two representatives from Central America and the Caribbean respectively. Also on Monday, the different sub-zonal associations of NORCECA announced their competition calendars for this year’s Junior and Youth regional events.
The details of the schedules are as follows: Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA): Men’s Juniors (April 13-18) at Anguilla, Women’s Juniors (June23-26) at French St. Martin, Boys’ Youth (July 14-17) at St. Vincent, and Girls’ Youth (August 12-14) at St. Lucia. Caribbean Volleyball Association (CAZOVA): Men’s Juniors (July 10-17) at Turks and Caicos, Women’s Juniors (August 6-13) at U.S. Virgin Islands, Boys’ Youth (December 13-19) at Jamaica, and Girls’ Youth (December 13-19) at Jamaica. Central American Association of Volleyball Federations (AFECAVOL): Girls’ Youth (July 22-30) at Belize, Women’s Juniors (August 1-7) at El Salvador, Men’s Junior (September 5-11) at Nicaragua, and Boys’ Youth (November 19-26) at Honduras. |
