Back to back bibs for Bassett

The GoldenBibs has fast become an exciting and relevant accolade for 2014 ANZ Championship players as they are judged on real-time statistics from Champion Data to be the best attacker, midcourter or defender in a particular round.

West Coast Fever dominated Round 3, with Eboni Beckford-Chambers and Caitlin Bassett taking the defensive and attacking awards after their dominating win over the EasiYo Tactix, where Caitlin also swept up the title of Most Valuable Player.

It is two weeks on the trot for Bassett though, as she once again sweeps the award and is recognised for her outstanding performance in the nail-biting finish against the Southern Steel.

When asked about the accolade, statistics-driven Bassett was both proud and humbled to be acknowledged.

"It's easy to become bogged down by shooting stats and personal opinion, so I'm really pleased to have got the attacking #GoldenBib two weeks running."

"Obviously my focus is on the team winning and doing the best I can on court every time I put the uniform on, but this is a great pat on the back to know I've done well."

With Diamonds coach Lisa Alexander in the crowd at Fever's most recent home game, and the team coming up against the Silver Ferns starting defensive line up this weekend, 'CBass' was asked her feelings in regards to National team selection.

"Casey (Kopua) and Leana (de Bruin) are great netballers, but with our attack end playing as it is at the moment, we can really focus on our own game and tactically match it with anyone in the competition," explained Bassett.

"To be honest, now is time to be focusing on Fever and getting the wins on the board. Hopefully my performance will reward me to get the green and gold on once again, but it's the black and green that I care about right now."

Fever will be looking to replicate their amazing performance in defeating the Magic from last year as they match up against the currently unbeaten side this weekend.
