Kiwis end Aussie dominance
Australia's long standing dominance over New Zealand at under-25 level has been erased in Adelaide this afternoon (11/4) with the Kiwis securing both the men's and women's Trans Tasman trophies
While Australia secured a 3-0 whitewash in the under-18 series, bankrolled by a third consecutive 5-1 win, there would be no further cause for celebration with the prized silverware heading across the ditch.
"Overall I'm very proud of the way they fought," Australian coach Steve Glasson said.
"It's a great learning curve for all of our players, and these series are all about development, so I'm sure they will benefit immensely from it.
"It just wasn't our day today.
"To New Zealand's credit they probably handled the conditions, particularly the wind, a little better than we did, but there was very little in either series as a 2-1 score line will attest to."
Despite a reshuffle of the Australian line-up in the women's series, a third test loss could not be avoided, with Amy Brenton and Clare McCaul outgunning Sarah Boddington and Bec Quail in the pairs and Angela Boyd, Gemma Collett and Mandy Boyd proving too good for Morgan Solman-Stewart, Carla Odgers and Sam Shannahan.
