In the women’s pairs, two-time defending champions Lynsey Armitage and Karen Murphy continue to shorten after finishing as the second placed qualifier in Section A.
Despite a minor hiccup on day two, Armitage and Murphy, arguably the most decorated pairs combination in the world, will enter the quarter-finals on the back of a five game winning streak and will be full of confidence when they meet New Zealand’s Genevive Baildon and Val Smith.
Earlier today they continued their return to form with a 31-10 hammering of India’s Tania Choudhury and Pinki Singh before backing up with a 27-15 win over Canada’s Amada Berg and Leanne Chinery.
“We’re very happy with every team making the quarter-finals,” Australian coach Cameron Curtis said from the Bukit Kiara Lawn Bowls Centre.
“The women’s triples and Leif Selby have been in great form.
“However the finals are a whole new ball game and we need to refocus to ensure that we get through to the medal rounds.”
The 18-nation Asia Pacific Championships will continue at the Bukit Kiara Lawn Bowls Centre in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow and will run through to August 16.
Competing nations: Australia, Brunei, Canada, China, Fiji, Hong Kong-China, India, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, New Zealand, Norfolk Island, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and United States.
