The action opens with the much-anticipated return of the Mercury Energy
Tactix to their home venue in Christchurch, when they take on the Ascot
Park Hotel Southern Steel. This match is being supported by Netball New
Zealand and TTNL, who have each contributed $10,000 to underwrite costs
and allow the Tactix to invite the Canterbury community to come along
and support their team at no charge. The match will be run as a
fundraiser, with proceeds being directed to the re-development of
community netball and youth netball in the region.
The second match on Thursday night sees the Vixens host the unbeaten
Firebirds in front of a sell-out crowd at Melbourne's State Netball
Hockey Centre. With the Firebirds set to play two of the current top
four teams in the Super Round, the outcome of this match could have a
significant impact on the Championship ladder in the charge towards the
Finals Series.
