Current IWSF World Wakeboard Champion, Andrea Fountain, landed herself in a tough heat with the 2007 US Masters Champion, Emily Copeland-Durham[USA], the US overall Pro Tour Champion, Shelby Kantar[USA], longtime professional Laura Lorhman[USA] and new comer from Canada, Erika Langman. The women’s pro rounds started at the semi-finals on Saturday 25th August, with 3 heats of 5 riders, and only the top 2 proceeding into the finals on Sunday. It was crucial to do be consistant, stay on the water and land your more technical tricks.

Fountain started her run in semi-finals on Saturday perfectly, going bigger than any of the other girls in her heat of 5. Taking an unfortunate fall towards the end of her first pass on a more technical 540 spin, she had to get up and put the pressure back on the rest of the heat. Coming back in on her 2nd pass, hit the rail with style front board the flat bar continuing on with several well executed and technical tricks however Fountain just popped the handle on her 540 once again.

The Final-Copeland, Friday and Wing

“Before this event I had been riding so good, landing my pass consistently so it was disappointing to get out there after training so hard and fall on the same trick twice. The one positive note was that I landed one of my new and more tech tricks the backside 360 in my run.”

Emily Copeland-Durham and Laura Lorhman made it through to the finals on Sunday, the wind slowly picked up right as the Pro Women were start which added another element. All 6 girls rode well, but Amber Wing took her first WWA World Title with Dallas Friday not far behind, followed by 15year old Nicola Buttler from the UK.
