Fifteen-year-old Amber Ratcliffe has become the youngest winner of the Norfolk county championship.
She won the title for the first time at Hunstanton defeating her Royal Cromer club-mate Tracey Williamson 2/1 in the final.
Amber was also the top qualifier for the matchplay stages, finishing eight shots clear of England senior international Jo Ashmore (Barnham Broom), who went on to reach the semi-finals. The other losing semi-finalist was Edwina Gold (Eaton).
Amber recently won the girls’ championship at the Fairhaven Trophies and, immediately before this event, had played in the English women’s amateur at West Sussex, reaching the first matchplay round.
She is only the second junior to win the Norfolk title, taking on the mantle of youngest champion from last year’s winner, Jennifer Hide (Royal Norwich) who was 16 when she triumphed.
