All change for England A Women

Barnett joins the RFUW from the Yorkshire club where he has been part of the set-up for the past 12 years. He is also a RFU Tutor and RFU Trainer and used to be a PE teacher at Woodhouse Grove School in Yorkshire.

Barnett will be assisted by new forwards coach Gavin Williams and new backs coach Andy Paton. Williams is also a Coach Development Officer for the RFU while Paton has just been appointed to the post of Club and Coach Officer for the RFUW.

Barnett, who will combine his England A role with his continuing commitment to Otley RFC who currently contest National Division One, said: “With an entirely new coaching set-up for the A team, Gavin, Andy and I are hoping to bring a completely new, fresh approach to the set-up.

“We are all very excited about the new challenges we face with a group of players who are clearly very skilful and committed. There is a real strength in depth in the elite squads and this bodes well for the future of English women’s rugby.”

England A will contest games against the USA, the Nomads, Spain and France A this season
