ACCRINGTON STANLEY WOMEN FC TOP OF THE LEAGUE AFTER THIRD UNBEATEN MATCH

Accrington Stanley Women are currently occupying top spot after just three games in the North West Women's Regional League Division One North. After last night's 1-0 win at home to Chorley Women Development, they find themselves unbeaten in the opening three games with two wins and a draw.

With a solitary goal from one of nine summer signings, Jordan Harding, the home team made it a tense affair by not taking several chances in the first half that would have buried the game inside 35 minutes. The women are next in action this Sunday September 4th with a tough away trip to Workington Women.

Bryn Tracey, Head Coach of Accrington Stanley Women, commented: "This was our third league game of the season, and we've picked up a 1-0 victory, which puts us top of the league unbeaten. Well done to all the team - we had a few more chances saved, really pleased with the work put in and the end result - I'm really proud of the club and how far we've come.

Top of the league might only be for 24 hours until the rest of the teams play, but it's a very big psychological boost for us. It's three games in to what will be a long season, but a great start!"

Captain Meg Tracey added, "I think the girls played really well today and gave it their all." Megan Rodriguez agreed, "I think everyone gave it 100% today, and I can't wait for the next game!"

Kelly-Ann Groves, Chair of Accrington Stanley Women, said: "We were at Accrington and Rossendale College watching Accrington Stanley Women play Chorley Women FC Development squad - it was a full-on match, lots of tense activity, and the result in the end was 1-0, which puts us at the top of the league. It's a successful season so far, and onwards and upwards from here on in!"

The next away fixture for Accrington Stanley Women is away at Workington on Sunday 4th September, and the next home game at the Ruby Civil Arena is on Sunday September 11th at 2pm, against Morecambe Women. The Ruby Civil Arena is located on Arbories Avenue, Padiham, Burnley BB12 8LB. Kick off is at 2pm, tickets cost £3 per adult and £1 for under 18s and you can pay on the door. Food and refreshments are available and the bar is open!

Accrington Stanley Women are sponsored by Sundown Solutions. They are actively looking for more players, coaches, committee members and volunteers. If you'd like to try a taster session, please email [email protected]
