We are really happy to be able to confirm that we are establishing a new Women’s racing team for 2010. The team has great backing from sponsors that have been involved in the sport already. They know what to expect and are the right partners for this project.
The team will focus on the development of it’s young riders by providing them with the best facilities for racing and training, and ensuring that the race program they follow will be 100% tailored to the their personal abilities. The team will open a new structure to riders from around the world wanting to reach the top and hopefully be able to compete for a medal in World Championships and Olympics in the future.
Women’s cycling is changing very fast and it’s an exciting time to be associated with the sport. 2010 will see new teams looking to start their build up towards London 2012 and beyond.
‘Of course I want to develop great young British riders, but that isn’t my main focus and this team will be an international squad.’ said Director Sportif Stefan Wyman. ‘I have some clear ideas of how I feel is the best way to achieve long term success in women’s cycling, and our sponsors share those goals and ideas. This team will also have a major focus on integrating sponsors and supporters with the team to allow them to have the maximum return and enjoyment from the team.’
I’ve learnt a lot over the 6 years I’ve been associated with women’s cycle sport, and I think those lessons will help me in 2010. The financial climate is ever changing, and teams have to move with the times and find new ways to provide maximum value to our partners. This is something I feel in a great position to do. But cycling is doing very well at the moment and I hope that success can carry through in women’s racing.
‘This time of year is always really important to ensure you get the right blend of riders and this year is particularly busy as so many riders are looking for new teams. We’re going to be announcing our first riders soon, but we’re still interested in hearing from other riders that want to be part of the team.’ added Wyman.
We’ll also be announcing the beginning of our sponsor line up very soon.
