The 2008 Women's European Championship in Skopje and Ohrid, FYR Macedonia, from 2 to 14 December 2008 will be played with 16 teams. The following nations have already qualified for the final tournament:
NOR as defending champion, RUS, FRA, GER, HUN (ranks 2 to 5 at the EURO 2006 in Sweden) and MKD as organiser.
The remaining ten places will be decided in the play-off matches, the 1st leg was played last weekend and the 2nd leg will be played this coming weekend on 7/8 June 2008.
