16 year old Sarah Mason Defeats Hawaiian Coco Ho in Round 2 of the Roxy Pro WCT
16 year old Kiwi surfer Sarah Mason took down world tour surfer Coco Ho (Haw) today in an exciting head to head battle in perfect 3 foot Snapper Rocks right handers.
Sarah looked right at home as she went to work on her backhand, attacking the lip with her trademark vertical approach and logging in several solid scores to take the win from the older and more experienced Coco. Following the win Sarah said, "Wohoo! I'm stoked to be moving through to the next round!"
Sarah gained entry into the Roxy Pro WCT as the 2012 Women's WCT alternate surfer, following top 17 surfer Justine Dupont's withdrawal from the event due to injury.
The call for Round 3 of the Roxy Pro will be made tomorrow morning at 7am. The event has a waiting period running from February 25th to March 7th and boasts a prize purse of US$110,000.
