Prisons women claim Kenya Volleyball National League title
Kenya Prisons teams were crowned new champions in the women's division after three days of competitive Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) playoffs at Moi International Sports Centre gymnasium in Nairobi, Kenya this weekend.
The women’s Prisons team dethroned former champions Pipeline 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-18) to reclaim the trophy they had held previously. As in the men’s category, the last game was a showdown between the top clubs and the losers finished second. Kenya Commercial Bank claimed bronze in the women’s category. They beat Nairobi Water 3-1 (25-16, 25-22, 23-25, 25-10) in their last match to finish with one win and two losses.
Prisons hitter Everline Makuto was voted MVP of the women’s competition, while GSU’s David Kirwa claimed men’s trophy. Makuto’s elder sister Asha was also honoured as MVP runner-up.
The victories give the champions automatic tickets to next year’s African Club Championships.
