With the press conference held this morning in Modena, the event has officially started. 33 countries are ready to compete. After the Qualification Tournament, a Main Draw with 24 teams for each gender will be played. The medal matches are scheduled on Sunday 9th. The winners will also earn a wild card for the Main Draw of a SWATCH FIVB World Tour event.
The SWATCH FIVB U-21 is the world’s strongest competition for the future stars of the World Tour. As a matter of fact, Pedro Salgado, who won last Sunday the St Petersburg Open of the SWATCH FIVB World Tour, was the U-21 Champion last year.
This is the second FIVB event in 2007 for the young Beach Volleyball players. In Myslowice, Poland, the 2007 SWATCH FIVB Youth World Championships were played in July.
