The 18-year-old from Royal Liverpool shot four-under par for the 36-hole Oklahoma Intercollegiate for Women at the Territory Golf Club.
She shot 70, 66, for a career-best performance and led a whitewash by the Oklahoma Stars who filled the first three places on the leaderboard. They also scored their fourth team win out of four starts this season.
Laura, whose home club is Royal Liverpool, has come through the lottery-funded training programme of the English Ladies’ Golf Association. She’s a past member of an ELGA birdie squad and of the regional Select North squad.
Her latest success ends her 2007 season as it began – with a win. Laura, a two-handicapper, also took the honours at The Leveret at Formby Ladies.
Meanwhile, in other US college events, English strokeplay champion Jodi Ewart was joint 12th in the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational tournament at Sahalee Golf & Country Club, Sammamish in Washington State. Jodi, from Catterick in Yorkshire is studying at New Mexico University.
Becky Dowell from Somerset and Fern Grimshaw from Dorset were members of the title-winning Bethune-Cookman College team in the Rutgers Women's Invitational tournament at Rutgers University, Piscataway in New Jersey.
Becky was fourth equal in a field of 98 while Fern finished in a share of ninth postion, alongside Yale University freshman Harriet Owers-Bradley from Nottingham.
Georgia State's English students, Claire Starkie from Yorkshire and Anna Scott from Co Durham, have been amassing good results. Anna was 3rd and Claire 22nd in the Jeannine McHaney/Audrey Morehead tournament at the Rawls course, Lubbock in Texas.
They also helped their university win the team event in the Lady Jaguar Invitational college tournament at Forest Hills Golf Club, Augusta in Georgia. Claire finished joint eighth in a field of 29 while Anna was in 10th place
