Competition eventually rolls on ! Surfers string together heats to catch up with yesterday’s delay !
At ten o’clock this morning the contest got underway at the “El Penon” beach in Sopelana. With blue skies and temperatures reaching 35°C in the shade, the conditions for the waves had clearly improved with 2 foot sets.
The delay from the day before forced the organizers to use two sites.
To the south could be seen the no-nonsense surfing style of Pauline Ado, whose efforts in the first heat of the day took her to the semi-finals, with a score of 15.83 : “… the set waves were closing out, so I concentrated on the in-between ones where I could string a few moves together…” explained Pauline on leaving the water.
