Marathon 'The Eleven city tour' in the Netherlands.
In Hawaii and main land USA, Stand Up Paddle (SUP) is very popular, in Europe the sport is
growing fast. 'SUP' is a sport where you move over water; standing and paddling on ‘a big surfboard’.
A lot of water sport fun and a great fitness tool. Balance is also being trained while enjoying
outside activity. You can SUP in the ocean; either surf waves or cruise from A to B. Also you can
take your SUP board to the mainland and cruise lakes, canals and cities.
Professioneel athlete
Anne-Marie Reichman from the Netherlands spends most her time in Maui. She chooses to be there,
so she can practice windsurfing, surfing, yoga and SUP, things she is very passionate about, on a daily base.
She is known as a ‘world top’ professional windsurfer in the waves (Sponsored by: Naish, Roxy, Crocs & Capische?).
How ever, she also has developed her SUP skills. Her last SUP event was the long distance race and crossing between the Hawaiian islands Molokai and Oahu (http://kgmb9.com/main/content/view/8810/43/). She crossed the finished line after a
solid 7 hours in relay with her partner.
Eleven city tour
Anne-Marie has left Maui a few weeks ago to prepare herself for a new long distance challenge August 27- 31.
The 99 year well known 220 km long Marathon ‘the eleven city tour’ is originally an ice skating tour, but has
been also done by bike, by feet, by row etc (www.beleeffriesland.nl). Anne-Marie has created her goal to be
the first person do this marathon on a SUP board!
