WOOLSTENCROFT BEGINS PARA-ALPINE WORLD CUP SEASON WITH WINS

ABTENAU, AUT (January 7th, 2008) – Triple-amputee Lauren Woolstencroft (Calgary, AB / Vancouver, BC) was a winner in the slalom race in Abtenau, Austria got the Para-alpine World Cup season underway.

Woolstencroft, who is defending last season’s overall championship, started her 10th season on the Canadian Para-Alpine Ski Team by winning in a combined time of one minute 35.55 seconds, to win by over three seconds.

“I don’t think I’ve ever skied in such wet conditions, but luckily I started within the first racers,” said Woolstencroft. “It gives me a lot of confidence to win the first race on the tour and for the rest of this World Cup event. I’m on the right track to accomplish my goal of winning the overall globe again this year.”
