Diamonds shooter Stephanie Wood is a late withdrawal for the Diamonds Quad Series tour, after failing to overcome a knee injury.
Wood will miss the three-Test series with a knee niggle, sustained during pre-season training.
“We left the decision as late as possible, hoping that Stephanie would prove fit for the three-Test matches,” explained Diamonds coach Lisa Alexander
“National selectors and I made the decision in conjunction with our medical team, and in consultation with Sunshine Coast Lightning.”
“With the Suncorp Super Netball season commencing 18 February, and two additional Test Series in 2017, we wanted to ensure Stephanie did not put herself at risk. She will continue to work with medical staff to ensure a safe return to court.”
The up and coming shooter, who made her Diamonds debut during the 2016 Quad Series, said “it’s disappointing to be missing the Series. It’s an honour to represent our country and I cherish every opportunity to wear the green and gold.
“I’ll be cheering the team on from home and wish them all the best in defending our title.”
A replacement player for Wood will be named early next week, ahead of the Diamonds pre-departure camp in Perth, commencing Thursday.
