Groff named USA Triathlon 2011 Elite Female Athlete of the Year

With International Triathlon Union World Championship Series podium finisher Sarah Groff USA Triathlon today announced its 2011 Elite Athletes of the Year as selected by the USA Triathlon Athlete Advisory Council (AAC).

Canada’s Kathy Tremblay took the spoils in the women’s race at Lake Louisa State Park.

Tremblay won a tightly contested women’s race in 1:01:01. Kelly Whitley (Colorado Springs, Colo.) edged Sarah Haskins (Colorado Springs, Colo.) for second in a sprint finish in 1:01:10. Haskins finished in 1:01:12 to give the U.S. four of the six elite podium spots on the day. photo ITU

Triathlon added to Arab Games starting in 2015

The International Triathlon (ITU) and the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees (UANOC) are pleased to announce that Triathlon and the Triathlon Mixed Relay have been added to the programme of the Arab Games. Both events will be contested for the first time at the 2015 Arab Games in Beirut, Lebanon.
