    Top seed Ana Ivanovic didn't have the first round match all her own way being pushed to three sets by Vera Dushevina, she eventually prevailed to continue to the second round. Venus Wiliams is also through she def Samantha Stosur in straight sets. Olympic silver medallist Dinara Safina also won her first round match defeating American player Kristie Ahn.
  • Good Day For Favorites at US Open

    Jelena Jankovic led a seeded charge into the second round at the US Open on Monday, although a few weren't as lucky. Anna Chakvetadze, Maria Kirilenko and Shahar Peer were all defeated.
  • Serena Williams and Venus Williams of United States defeated French Open champions Anabel Medina Garrigues and Virginia Ruano Pascual of Spain to capture the gold medal in the Women's Doubles Tennis at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games on August 17.

    Elena Dementieva and Dinara Safina moved into the gold medal match with straight set semifinal wins on Saturday. A medal sweep could be within reach, as Vera Zvonareva fights Li Na for bronze.
  • Home favourite Li Na has just become the first Chinese player to make a place in the Olympic Tennis Semi Final. She defeated Wimbledon Champion Venus Williams 7-5 7-5.
