Womens Volleyball-Egypt juniors open African Championship with win

 

Womens Volleyball-Hosts Tunisia beat Cote dIvoire and defending champions Egypt defeated Algeria on the opening day of the tournament
Hosts Tunisia beat Cote d'Ivoire and defending champions Egypt defeated Algeria on the opening day of the tournament
Tunis, Tunisia, October 15, 2010 - Hosts Tunisia and defending champions Egypt both ended the first day of the 2010 Women's Junior African Nations Championship victorious in Tunis on Thursday.


Egypt beat Algeria in straight sets (29-27, 25-16, 25-14) after a closely contested first set. Tunisia swept aside Cote d'Ivoire 3-0 (25-11, 25-1, 25-8) in a lopsided battle dominated by the home side.


The competition, which serves as the African qualifying event for the 2011 FIVB Women's Junior World Championship, continues on Friday as Algeria meet Cote d'Ivoire and Rwanda take on Egypt.
