Artistic Gymnastics

USA WON THE WOMEN’S QUALIFICATIONS

Stuttgart (GER), September 02, 2007: The hot favourites from the USA (Silver in Athens 2006 and in Aarhus 2006) began cold-bloodedly on Beam. Of all the team only Nastia Liukin and Alicia Sacramone have international experience (and World titles, in 2005); all the rest of the gymnasts (Worley, Peszek, Hong and Johnson) are debutants. The Team’s “baby” Shawn Johnson (15) is, at the same time, the “the most dangerous” for those who have set eyes on the Individual title. She announces her arrival with a record high 16.250 on Beam. The USA score also highest as a Team- 63.800 Beam, 59.650 Floor, 60.650 Vault, 60.925 A. Bars (with Nastia Lukin scoring 16.250, second- highest for qualification to the Final)
