ROSEMONT, Ill. -- With the score at 2-0 in the bottom half of the sixth inning in favor of the USSSA Florida Pride, the clouds above Rosemont Stadium opened up, causing a downpour and suspending the game. National Pro Fastpitch rules declared today (Sunday) that because the game had completed five innings, it was official, giving the Bandits the 2-0 loss.
Through five innings, Pride pitcher Sarah Pauly tossed five scoreless while allowing just a Danielle Zymkowitz single. On the flip side, Bandits pitcher Jamee Juarez allowed two runs on six hits and three walks, with Pride catcher Megan Willis and infielder Ashley Charters each driving in one run on singles in the fourth inning.
Despite the ruling, the Chicago Bandits will honor their original offer of inviting fans with tickets to the Saturday, Aug 13 game back to the park for the Aug 14 game. Seating for patrons of Aug 13 will be based on availability and will most likely feature outfield or standing room tickets. Sunday's game will start off at the originally planned time of 5:35 p.m. with gates opening at 4 p.m. CST.
