Japanese Judo heroine wins fifth Olympic medal

(BEIJING, August 9) -- Alina Alexandra Dumitru of Romania defeated Yanet Bermoy of Cuba with an ippon in 1:20 to win gold in Judo Women's -48kg. The Romanian judoka has been European Judo Championship in the event for four consecutive years and was the fifth-place finisher in Athens.


(BEIJING, August 9) -- Japanese judoka Tani Ryoko defeated Lyudmila Bogdanova of Russia with an ippon to win bronze medal in Judo Women's -48kg. Tani won gold in Athens and Sydney and silver in Atlanta and Barcelona. Paula Belen Pareto of Argentina defeated Pak Ok-song of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to win the other bronze medal in the Women's -48kg.
