Jess from Hampton Hill joins up with another local girl Anna Hemmings from Weybridge to compete in the Womens K2 500m event. This will be Anna’s 2nd Olympics having competed in Sydney in 2000. With Anna’s experience and Jess’s raw talent, there is much hope that they will do well in Beijing.

Jessica Walker: "I am delighted to be competing in my first games and am looking forward to going to Beijing and experiencing the greatest sporting event in the world. I feel really lucky to have this opportunity, especially at such a young age as this experience will aid my development towards 2012".

Junior and U23 European Team

With London 2012 just 4 years away the results for the Junior and U23yrs team from Hungary bode well for GB’s ambitious 2012 medal targets. The team achieved their best ever tally of 14 A-finals, 7 for the Juniors and 7 for the u23yrs team. The challenge now is to convert those finals to medals at International events over the next 4 years in the run up to London 2012. But in Hungary Jess did not disappoint with Gold in the 1000m and the title of European Champion, beating a stiff challenge from a Hungarian in 2nd and an Austrian paddler in 3rd. Jess then went on to deliver a Silver in the 500m event with the Hungarian 1st and the Austrian again 3rd placed
