After a 1-0 victory over Everton Ladies yesterday, goalscorer Kim Little reflected that Arsenal now have ‘one hand' on the FA WSL title.

The hard-fought victory puts the Gunners top of the table with just one game remaining, against the league's bottom-side Liverpool, but they are not getting carried away just yet.

The Scottish midfielder said: "I think maybe we have one hand on the trophy but not at all have we won it yet because we have a hard game against Liverpool [to come]. The league is so tight that if we slip up Birmingham can win it."

With so much riding on their final two games, both against Merseyside opposition, it was always going to be a tense encounter and Arsenal manager Laura Harvey played tribute to both sides in a close game defined by two moments of brilliance at either end of the field from her side.

"I thought first half the game was played at a frightening tempo," she said, "so credit to both teams for that. There was a bit of quality lacking from both teams but Everton probably shaded it.

"We reflected on some things at half time and came out and played a little bit better in the second half. The tempo was still a little high but between two teams like ours it is always going to be the fine details that win and lose you games.

"Kim Little pops up with a little bit of quality to win it, luck was on our side at times but a great save from Emma Byrne towards the end of the game kept it at 1-0. They are what win you football matches and hopefully what pushes you on to win titles."

Echoing Little's view that the title is by no means theirs just yet, Harvey is happy the title is in Arsenal's hands but is expecting a Liverpool side intent on causing an upset in a week and a half's time.

"The main thing, from our point of view, after the Birmingham game is that we kept the league in our own hands and all the game after that were to win them and keep the league in our hands," she added.

"We have done that job in two games now and we have one more left. Liverpool will be tough, they will be out to scalp us and stop us, we know that we have to perform well on the day.

"We have 10 days now where a lot of players go away on international duty so we have to reflect, look at things we need to work on and push onto that game on the 28th."
