FINA Diving Grand Prix 2011 held from May 5-8. The Americans also impressed at home, bagging seven medals (one gold, two silvers and four bronze).
Among women, the scenario was quite different with only one Chinese winner, He Zi, in the 3m springboard. Anastasia Pozdniakova (RUS) and Kelci Bryant (USA) won the silver and bronze, respectively. On the higher board, the Australian team celebrated its first trip to the podium with the gold medal performance of Brittany Broben, beating China’s “veteran” Chen Ruolin and young sensation Hu Yadan into second and third place, respectively. With the Chinese absent from the synchronised events, the USA (Christina Loukas/Abby Johnston) claimed their first gold of the Grand Prix season and another bronze (Cassidy Krug/Kassidy Cook) in the 3m springboard, leaving the silver for British pair Rebecca Gallantree/Alicia Blagg. In the platform, Carol-Ann Ware/Pamela Ware (CAN) were the best, followed by another American pair (Anna James/Mary-Beth Dunnichay) and Germany’s Christin Steuer/Nora Subschinski in third.
