Niederdorf/Villabassa (South Tyrol/Italy), 09.05.2008 – The 6th UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships will take place on July 5th 2008 in Niederdorf/Villabassa. Preparations for the event are in full swing. The 14th edition of the traditional Suedtirol Dolomiti Superbike MTB marathon is scheduled for July 6th. This year, the organizing committee expects once again a new record of participants. Currently, there are still 700 starting places left, allowing a maximum number of participants of 3,500. The response up to now exceeded all expectations. 2,800 riders have registered to the Suedtirol Dolomiti Superbike to date which is 18% higher than last year.. The majority of participants are from Italy, followed by Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Each participant in the Dolomiti Superbike (not the World Championships!) will automatically participate in a lottery for great prizes. The organizing committee decided to open the course of the marathon World Championships for training purposes later than usual due to heavy snowfalls over the past weeks. The registration fee is 60.00 Euros for registrations received prior to June 30th. For registrations between 1st and 3rd July the fee increases to 70.00 Euros and from 4th to 5th July to 80.00 Euros. On race day, July 6th, registration will be closed.
