WFTDA Flat Track Roller Derby Championship Tournament in Austin,

The 2006 National Champion Texas Rollergirls are pleased to host the second
annual WFTDA Flat Track Roller Derby Championship Tournament in Austin,
Texas this September 29th and 30th.

"The WFTDA is delighted for the 2007 championships to be hosted by the Texas
Rollergirls in Austin, Texas," says Jennifer Wilson, WFTDA President and
retired Texas Rollergirls skater. "Austin is the birthplace of the flat
track derby revolution, so it's only appropriate that the top ranked flat
track derby leagues in the nation converge on Austin to see who's the best
of the best."

The top eight teams from across the country will duke it out for the title
of Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) champions.

WFTDA currently has 38 member leagues that represent almost every state in
the US.

This year's WFTDA championship bout showcases the top four teams from both
the Eastern and Western Divisions. Representing the best of the West are
all-star teams from Rat City Rollergirls of Seattle, Tucson Rollerderby,
Texas Rollergirls, and Kansas City Roller Warriors. The top four teams from
the Eastern Division will be decided at the Eastern Regional Tournament this
August.

The two-day derby festival takes place at the Austin Convention Center and
will also showcase bands, scrimmages, games, and merchandise. Tickets and
two-day passes for this event are on sale now.

About the WFTDA

Founded in 2004, the WFTDA promotes and fosters the sport of women's flat
track roller derby by facilitating the development of athletic ability,
sportswomanship, and goodwill among member leagues. The governing philosophy
is "by the skaters, for the skaters." Women skaters are primary owners,
managers, and operators of each member league and of the coalition.
Operational tasks include setting standards for rules, seasons, and safety,
and determining guidelines for the national and international athletic
competitions of member leagues. All member leagues have a voice in the
decision-making process, and agree to comply with the governing body's
policies. For more information about WFTDA, visit http://www.wftda.com.
