Van Third in Schonach Jumps

SCHONACH, Germany - The U.S. Ski Team's Lindsey Van (Park City, UT) moved up a notch from Saturday's jumps, finishing third in a Continental Cup in Germany on Sunday to advance from fifth to third in the Cup standings.

"The jumps were OK. Once again, I was happy with one and not too happy with the other," Van said. "I'm still looking for consistency. I am definitely happy with the result - it's a good result - but I am ready to win."

Teammate Alissa Johnson (Park City, UT) followed Van, finishing eighth. Daniela Iraschko of Austria won and Ulrike Graessler of Germany was second.

According to Van, in order to get the win she's after, she needs some reliability in her jumps.

"I need two good jumps in a row with good timing and that's the only way it is going to happen," Van said. "At this level you have to have two really good jumps and if you don't you are not going to win."

The women compete next in Baiersbronn, Germany Jan. 17-18, but will train prior to the event in Schonach.

"We'll be training here for the week and I am going to work on a few simple things," Van said.
