USA Open Championships Starts May 26, A2 Splits to Two Teams

AUSTIN, Texas (May 25, 2007) - After training the entire week, the 20-member USA Volleyball A2 National Women's Team has been split into two 10-member squads in preparation for the USA Open Volleyball Championships held May 26-June 2 at the Austin Convention Center.
Details on the A2 members, including player sketches, can be found at http://www.usavolleyball.org/national/07WA2Roster.asp.
The USA A2 Red and Blue Teams will compete in the Open Division of the tournament between May 26-29. Other brackets starting on May 26 include BB, B, 40-and-over and 50-and-over for men's and women's. Flights challenged on May 27-29 include men's and women's 60-and-over and 70-and-over, as well as 80-and-over men's division. The men's and women's U-Volleyball AA/A brackets are set for May 28-29, in addition to a Special Olympics category.
The second main wave of competition begins May 30-June 2 with the men's and women's AA, A, 45-and-over and 55-and-over flights. Co-Ed Reverse and men's and women's U-Volley BB/B will take place May 30-31. Men's and women's 65-and-over and men's 75-and-over championships will be held May30-June 1. The Co-Ed Regular bracket concludes the tournament on June 1-2.
The Open succeeds in bridging the gap from junior-level and collegiate volleyball to a lifelong love of the sport. At the highest levels, champions are crowned in both men's and women's Open Divisions. The Open offers competition avenues for different skill levels (Open, AA, A, BB and B), along with age division flights in both men's and women's competitions. First time participants can look forward to a time of fellowship and making new friends; returning players to the renewal of friendships and the making of new ones.
