INDIANAPOLIS (WNBA) - Australia Olympic hopeful Tully Bevilaqua helped the Indiana Fever rout the Connecticut Sun 73-46 on Wednesday.
Bevilaqua, who played well for the Opals at the 2008 Beijing Basketball Event, had five points, four assists and three rebounds while also playing her normal excellent defense in the 73-46 win.
Katie Douglas, one of the top players at Spanish champions Ros Casares this season, had 23 points to lead the Fever. She was nine of 17 from the floor, but just three of 11 from long range.
France’s Sandrine Gruda had six rebounds to go with her two points in 13 minutes for the Sun. She has decided not to join Les Bleues this summer in their EuroBasket Women 2009 qualifying campaign and to instead play in the WNBA.
Erika had 12 points and Iziane 11 but the Brazil duo couldn’t lead Atlanta to victory.
They suffered an 80-74 defeat at Washington.
Minnesota beat Houston 98-92 in the other game, with USA international Seimone Augustus scoring 25 points and hauling down nine rebounds for the Lynx.
