An icy course greeted the Elite Women on the second day of the 2011 UCI Cyclo-Cross World Championships. Current National Champion Helen Wyman lined up alongside Nikki Harris and Gabby Day to represent GB in the Elite Women's category.
Helen and Nikki both had good starts and left the start loop in about 10th and 11th position. Nikki slipped on the off-camber in the first lap and lost a few places putting her into 18th position. Nikki's bad luck continued in the second lap when she punctured with over half a lap to ride until the pits. She managed to pull back the places she lost and crossed the finish line in 15th, three places behind Helen who came in at 12thhaving had a consistent race. Gabby finished in 23rd position. Marianne Vos of the Netherlands was crowned the World Champion for the third year in a row.
