U.S. Women's National Team Named for 2011 Four Nations Cup
Training Camp to be Held at Quinnipiac University
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Hockey announced today the first 20 players of its roster for the U.S. Women's National Team that will compete at the 2011 Four Nations Cup from Nov. 9-13 in Nyköping, Sweden. The U.S. will add two goaltenders to its final roster following its training camp in Hamden, Conn., Nov. 1-6.
Highlighting the roster are 15 members of the U.S. Women's National Team that captured the gold medal at the 2011 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championship this past April, including defensemen Kacey Bellamy (Westfield, Mass.), Caitlin Cahow (Branford, Conn.), Molly Engstrom (Siren, Wis.), Gigi Marvin (Warroad, Minn.) and Josephine Pucci (Pearl River, N.Y.); and forwards Julie Chu (Fairfield, Conn.), Kendall Coyne (Palos Heights, Ill.), Brianna Decker (Dousman, Wis.), Meghan Duggan (Danvers, Mass.), Hilary Knight (Sun Valley, Id.), Jocelyne Lamoureux (Grand Forks, N.D.), Monique Lamoureux-Kolls (Grand Forks, N.D.), Jenny Potter (Edina, Minn.), Jen Schoullis (Erie, Pa.) and Kelli Stack (Brooklyn Heights, Ohio).
Brianne McLaughlin (Sheffield Village, Ohio), Molly Schaus (Natick, Mass.) and Jessie Vetter (Cottage Grove, Wis.) will be vying for the two goaltending spots on the Team USA roster.
The U.S. will open play against Sweden on Nov. 9, at 9:30 a.m. EST at Stora Hallen Arena. A full schedule is below.
In preparation for the Four Nations Cup and for overall development of its U.S. Women's National Team Program, USA Hockey will stage a training camp in Hamden, Conn., Nov. 1-6, that will include 25 players. The camp will include daily practices, testing and off-ice training. A schedule of practices, which are open to the public, can be found here.
Of the 25 players invited to the camp, nine were members of the 2011 U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team that played in the Under-18 Series in Rockland, Ont., including goaltender Sidney Peters (Geneva, Ill.); defenseman Courtney Burke (Albany, N.Y.); and forwards Dani Cameranesi (Plymouth, Minn.), Sydney Daniels (Southwick, Mass.), MaryAnne Kennedy-Menefee (Lansing, Mich.), Anne Pankowski (Laguna Hills, Calif.), Paige Savage (Carrollton, Texas), Haley Skarupa (Rockville, Md.) and Dana Trivigno (Setauket, N.Y.).
