U.S. FIGURE SKATING ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE FOR 2007-08 TELEVISED EVENTS


NBC TO PROVIDE LIVE, HIGH-DEFINITION COVERAGE OF COMPETITIONS

 

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Sept. 20, 2007) – U.S. Figure Skating has entered a multiyear partnership with NBC, under which NBC Sports will broadcast 10 hours of live, high-definition coverage of the 2008 U.S. Figure Skating Championships and 2007 Skate America.

 

The broadcast schedule begins with 2007 Skate America on Sunday, Oct. 28, in Reading, Pa. The competition will be televised live that day on NBC from 4-6 p.m. EST and will feature all four 2007 U.S. champions: Kimmie Meissner (ladies), Evan Lysacek (men’s), Brooke Castile & Ben Okolski (pairs) and Tanith Belbin & Ben Agosto (ice dancing).

4-6 p.m. EST (LIVE)

 

The coverage will also feature the 2008 U.S. Championships, televised live and in high definition on NBC. The live broadcast from 2-4 p.m. on Jan. 26 will feature the pairs free skate. The ladies free skate and original dance will be the focus of the live primetime coverage on Jan. 26 from 8-11 p.m. The men’s free skate, which will be shown Jan. 27 from 4-6 p.m., will wrap up the live coverage of the championship weekend. The lineup for the U.S. Championships will be announced in mid-November following the U.S. regional and sectional championships.
