Transilvania Rookie Fest and French Fries Rookie Fest Results
The 2013 World Rookie Tour kicked off last weekend in Arena Platos, Romania with the 3rd edition of the Transilvania Rookie Fest, a World Snowboard Tour 2Star event. Austrian rising stars Florian Prietl and Birgit Rofner stood atop the podium. Now the Black Yeti squat is moving on the Alps for the upcoming Slopestyle events in Livigno (ITA), Avoriaz (FRA) and the only Halfpipe contest of the series, the Trentino Rookie Fest in Monte Bondone (ITA).
72 riders competed in the second edition of the French Fries Rookie Fest in Avoriaz
72 young snowboarders from 11 nations all over Europe and North America competed in the second edition of French Fries Rookie Fest in Avoriaz, to get their qualification for the Völkl World Rookie Finals in Ischgl, Austria.
The Rookies contest for 15 to 17 years old riders, took place on Saturday at the “Arare Snowpark”, where Norwegian Marius Bakken took the top spot, followed on the podium by Swiss talent Jonas Bösiger and Swedish ripper Anthon Bosh. The best trick of the day was a Double Backflip by the Swiss Lou Staub who was awarded with a “Ghetto Blaster” by Pioneer! Among the Rookie girls, France got both, first and second place with Lucile Lefevre and Agathe Le Cornec, while the third place went to Nathalie Silkstone from England.
Sunday saw the Groms contest for under 14 years old riders at the “Chapel Snowpark”. The best rider of the day was Steff Vandeweyer from Belgium, followed by his team mate Flor De Laat. Third on the male grom podium was the French rider Sacha Moretti. Among the grom girls Chloe Sillieres from France took the top spot, with Thalia Larochaix in second and Ayla Thidling (ENG) in third.
All the podium riders in each category (Rookie girls and boys, Grom boys and girls) are qualified for the Völkl World Rookie Finals in Ischgl, Austria, from April 3 to 7, 2013.
