Top female snowboarders convene at the 4Star Battery Catfight
Female snowboarders will be making the pilgrimage to the very northern parts of Finland, far beyond the Arctic Circle, to the Levi resort in Lapland, for the much anticipated 4Star Battery Catfight competition. Featuring a new name and location, as well as, three competition formats, this event is gearing up for some serious women-only snowboard action. Offering a maximum of 500 Swatch TTR World Ranking points and a lavish $10 000 USD prize purse to share out, the girls will flock in to participate in the 4Star slopestyle, halfpipe and rail jam competitions. The action starts off with the halfpipe competition on Thursday March 24th 2011 and the rail-jam will take place in the hearth of the village on Friday March 25th and the event wraps up with the slopestyle finals on Saturday the 26th of March 2011.
Finland’s Top Snowboarders to meet European Riders
The Battery Catfight, previously named Girlsessions, is famous for igniting the career of 20-year old Finnish ripper, Enni Rukajärvi, who won her first TTR titles at this event and then went on to storm the TTR Tour 5Star and 6Star events last winter to take the 2009/10 Swatch TTR Tour Champion Title. Alongside Enni at this year’s event will be other up-and-coming Finnish riders including Saana Pehkonen, current World No. 57, and Merika Enne who sits in the TTR Top 70. The slopestyle course will include a progressive setup of several rails and three kickers, the halfpipe is a mellow size with the walls measuring in at 16 feet and the rail-jam will see two rails at the center of the village.
International talent is also set to attend with Swiss duo Elena Könz, who holds the World No. 41 spot, and Isabel Derungs, who currently sits in World No. 22, both making the trip to this exotic location. Isabel took home the title at the 4Star STIMOROL Engadinsnow, and took a podium at the 5Star Néscafé Champs Open. Also participating is Polish shredder and World No. 38, Diana Sadlowski, and Austrian phenomenon, Christina “Tini” Gruber, who took second place at the 3Star Rip Curl Sista Sessions slopestyle.
Top Wild Cards on Offer
The Battery Catfight prides itself on the fun and progressive attitude and the event will include coaching and jam sessions for all levels, with the spotlight on the 4Star Battery Catfight slopestyle, halfpipe and rail jam competitions.
