Three Weeks to International Paralympic Day 2007
Bonn, Germany -
On 23 August, IPD 2007 will offer a condensed version of the Paralympic Summer Games on the Pariser Platz in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. An exciting menu of sports have been chosen, including Wheelchair Basketball, Sitting Volleyball, Football 5-a-side, Table Tennis and Long Jump as well as Biathlon.
Athletes from all over the world will come to perform in Berlin, including the Chinese Women's Wheelchair Basketball National Team and long jumpers Casey Tibbs (USA), Urs Kolly (Switzerland), Roberto La Barbera (Italy), Heinrich Popow (Germany), Thomas Ulbricht (Germany) and Xavier LeDraoullec (France).
There will be the chance to experience Paralympic Sport live and meet the athletes as well as to see how sport unites people and what opportunities exist for persons with a disability.
