Third round at the Aegon Classic



Daniela Hantuchova outlasted 12th seed Kristina Mladenovic in the third round of the Aegon Classic on Thursday after rain interrupted play.

Hantuchova, a previous finalist in Edgbaston, was trailing 6-3, 3-3, 40-0 to the Frenchwoman before all matches were suspended due to rain.

When the tennis resumed later in the day, the Slovakian world No.60 fought back to take the match into a deciding set where she sealed the win 3-6, 7-6(6), 6-4.

The former world No.5 will now play former Grand Slam Champion Francesca Schiavone of Italy.
Donna Vekic vs Maria Sanchez

On court one, 16 year- old Donna Vekic of Croatia rallied back from a set down to beat American Maria Sanchez 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 to book a spot in the Aegon Classic quarter-finals, the second of her career.
Madison Keys vs Mona Barthel

American Madison Keys stormed into the final eight with straight sets 6-3, 6-2 victory over sixth seeded German Mona Barthel. Keys, who retained a high first serve percentage throughout the match said afterwards: “I played well and served well. I just try and keep getting better and better.”
