Amateur and Pro share the spoils at the 81st Roehampton Gold Cup held in south-west London on Saturday.

Kirsty Taylor and Kent County Player Claire Aitken both played to par around the parkland course at Roehampton on a warm sunny day with an untypical north wind blowing.

For the 36 hole scratch event they both totalled 144 (par 72) to share the handsome gold trophy, six shots clear of the field of sixty players.

Kirsty Taylor from Clitheroe in Lancashire, turned pro in 1995 and won the Gold Cup back in 1999. Newly moved south to Gloucestershire and attached to Minchinhampton Golf Club, she is looking forward to another year on the tour.

Claire Aitken, aged 21 and playing off +1, from The London Club in Kent, fresh from her win at The Hampshire Rose last week and clearly on a roll with a heavy golfing calendar already underway. She was runner-up in the recent Kent Championship, having won it in 2006. She is looking forward to playing in the Kent Team at the forthcoming county week at Littlestone.
