Crista Cullen grabbed both of Leicester’s goals in their 2-0 win over Bowdon Hightown to move top of the table, albeit with a game in hand over Canterbury. Penalty Corner specialist Cullen scored twice in the last 15 minutes, though she missed the opportunity for a hat-trick having earlier struck the post with a penalty stroke. University of Birmingham’s local derby with Olton & WW ended in three points for the home side leaving Olton in the relegation play-off place. Sophie Bray set her side on the way to victory in the 34th minute, with Jo Turnbull and Liz George adding to the tally in the 57th and 66th minutes.

Surbiton slipped to their first loss of the season on Sunday and with that dropped to second place in Women’s Conference East. Surbiton had beaten third placed Chelmsford 3-1, Helen Grant scoring twice, on Saturday but fell to a 2-1 defeat at seventh placed Harleston Magpies, Emma Lee-Smith, who has returned to Magpies from Reading, inspired her side to victory with a 32nd minute strike. Sevenoaks usurped Surbiton by registering back to back 4-0 triumphs over Ipswich and St. Albans.
